Cosplay | Aurora, Child of Light
Today I'm sharing my newest cosplay venture, Aurora from Child of Light! If you haven't heard of Child of Light, it's a beautiful game (for PlayStation, XBox, and Steam) from Ubisoft. According to the official website,
The duke’s daughter Aurora is dead… and yet, she lives. Join Aurora across the mysterious kingdom of Lemuria on her quest to return home. Helped by Igniculus the firefly, Finn the Capilli and many more, she must defeat the Queen of the Night who has stolen the sun, the moon and the stars.
COSTUME DETAILS:
Dress: Cream jersey knit, and the trim is a gold spandex. I used heat n' bond on the cut-out shapes on the bottom.
Sword: The base was foam core, held together with glue. I then papier-mâchéd it, used a few layers of gesso to prime, and painted. It was weathered using a sponge and wateredd-down black paint. I used about three layers of mod podge to make it shiny.
Crown: This was my first adventure with worbla! The base shape was foam, and I molded the worbla around it. Then it was primed and painted, and I used sequins and pearls for the details.
Ignigulus: I decided to make Igniculus into a pouch for functionality. He was made out of some scrap blue fabric into a drawstring pouch, and I put LED lights in him to light up.
Wings: These were shaped of wire, then covered in gauze. The wires at the end bent into an "L" shape, and stuck in a little fabric-covered foam. I looped ribbon around the foam, and the wings attached over my shoulders.I'm really happy with this, and walking around Boston Comic Con with the massive sword was definitely fun.
